Breath, Bandhas and Drishti: Ashtanga Vinyasa-Inspired

Join for a very special Ashtanga-inspired practice on October 26 to explore:

  • where and how to breathe to support our asana practice and bring space and peace to body and mind,
  • using energy locks within the body to strengthen and support our practice and also our natural energetic life force,
  • concentration: where to set the gaze to promote a deep internal calmness and focus.

Three classical yoga principles taken directly from the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa system and carried through into the modern Vinyasa practice. Joanne will gently lead you through a session inspired by the half-primary series of Ashtanga Vinyasa, focusing on breath, energy locks and gaze.

If you are interested to discover or dive deeper into these more subtle practices of the traditional Vinyasa system, then please join us on the mat on Saturday 26 October. The class takes place from 15:00 to 17:00 at the beautiful Satya Yoga studio.

Price: 35 CHF, payable at the studio by card or in cash. All levels warmly welcome.

We have yoga mats and props available for you to use. The studio is located at Feldbergstrasse 47, 4057 Basel.

Meet the teacher: Joanne

Joanne has studied various forms of yoga but found her home and love for Ashtanga many years ago, which she continues to study daily and with many wonderful teachers all around the world.

As well as a physical asana practice, Joanne has a great love of Buddhist practices and often studies texts with beautiful Buddhist teachers from around the globe. This fascination and search for a peaceful and meaningful life lead her to live for two years in a Buddhist center, both working and studying closely with teachers and learning how to live mindfully every day.
